Resorts Koh Samui
Koh Samui is located in Surat Thani province, off the south coast of Thailand. Due to its fine white sandy beaches, laid back and friendly atmosphere and stunning scenery, the island has become a very popular tourist destination for both international and domestic travellers. Access to the island is easy from with Thailand by bus, train and boat and the Koh Samui international airport handles both domestics, regional and international flights. Recent improvements to the island’s infrastructure and services have led to an expansion in mid-range and luxury end resorts. Once on the island, it is a manageable size, with beaches and local attractions easily visited from wherever you choose to stay.
The two main tourist beach destinations on Koh Samui are Chaweng on the northeast coast and Lamai on the south coast. Chaweng is the most developed tourist town on the island, which is not surprising, due to its beautiful, soft white pristine beach and turquoise clear shallow waters. The beach is flanked by a variety of resorts, everything from mid-range hotels to 5-star branded hotels, and the town offers a wide range of fine dining opportunities, as well as bars, clubs, shops and market stalls. Lamai follows closely behind Chaweng as a preferred location on Samui, with its huge swathe of beach - great for swimming and water sports. The number of resorts in Lamai has therefore grown as the area has developed and it now boasts a range of luxury hotels, resorts and pool villas. There are also plenty of shops, restaurants and bars to choose from, but life is less hectic than in Chaweng.
The accommodation on Koh Samui caters to all budgets and preferences, so visitors will always find something suitable for their holiday. Koh Samui resorts now also offer stand alone bungalows or villas as an alternative to hotel-style accommodation. Resorts are either located in the hills or beachside, and are set in carefully manicured gardens, showcasing Thailand’s most exotic flora. Architecturally, Koh Samui resorts are a mix of Asian and Western design with all the amenities necessary to ensure comfort while enjoying the stunning surroundings. All the resorts have a main infinity pool, serviced by a beach bar from where you can order your sundowners while relaxing on the sun beds.
