Lamai Resort
Lamai beach is located on the south coast of Koh Samui and enjoys the calm clear waters and white sandy beaches synonymous with the Gulf of Thailand. After Chaweng, Lamai is the second largest tourist area on the island and is growing and developing as a 5 start holiday location.
Although Lamai has plenty of shops, restaurants, bars and resorts to choose from, it is generally more laid back and not as hectic as Chaweng. Lamai is also ideally located for visiting some of the other Samui attractions like the waterfalls, Muslim village, Mama and Papa rock, Koh Tan and Koh Matsum, as well as local temples.
The accommodation in Lamai caters to all budgets and ranges from the cheap rustic beach huts to luxury resorts, detox retreats and villas. Typically, the resorts are built to maximize their surroundings and the environment with lush tropical gardens, beach front or hillside settings with amazing sea and or jungle views. The resorts are usually built blending traditional design and architecture with contemporary ideas, using local materials and decorated with beautiful Thai artifacts to reflect the culture.
Resorts in Lamai such as Zara resort offer all you need on site to relax and enjoy your island holiday. There is usually a spa attached to the resort offering Thai Massage, or for the less courageous, oil massages, delicious wraps and scrubs, manicures and facials. There is usually at least one private pool with children’s area set in the gardens or beach side with sun decks and umbrellas to shade you from the midday heat whilst enjoying the sea breezes and spectacular views. Dining opportunities are varied with a couple of restaurants on site serving Thai or International food, catering to all tastes and pool side bars for those early evening sun downers.
