Koh Samui accommodation

Koh Samui has long been known as a world class holiday destination, with travellers arriving from around the globe to enjoy the laid back way of life. Warm temperatures and exotic beaches are therefore just part of the tropical island experience.

Although the days of paying 100 baht a night for a hut on the beach have long since passed; there are still plenty of affordable options for those on a budget, especially inland or on beaches where the sea isn't suitable for swimming due to low tides or sand banks. Mid-range, boutique hotels and resorts like Zara Resort offer comfortable furnishings and air conditioning. The ultimate holiday value, which is still achievable in Thailand.

For high-end travellers, Samui also has plenty to offer, with a range of top end accommodation, including famous international chains, while for those staying long term there is a range of smaller houses and bungalows available for monthly and yearly rates, and long term luxury villa rentals can be arranged.  The main tourist beaches of Chaweng and Lamai attract the most Bophut is quieter, with smaller guest-houses and a strip of fine restaurants along the sea front. Further north,  Maenam has a long stretch of beach and a more remote, local Thai feel.

Lamai was the original backpackers haven, but has recently moved upmarket with a large selection of luxury hotels, although smaller beach resorts still offer holiday makers a more affordable alternative.  The west coast is much less developed and still retains the old Samui charm, characterized by small villages, fishing communities and local temples.Staying in Lamai at Zara Beach Resort and travelling south to the quieter bays offers guests a glimpse at the old Samui, rather than the bustling tourism that characterizes the larger beach towns.
