Beach Resorts Koh Samui

Since the late 1970's Koh Samui has been tempting holiday makers to its soft sandy beaches and tropical island atmosphere. Now world renowned as a holiday destination and Wellness capital, most of the visitors flocking to the island choose to stay in one of the island's thousands of beach resorts. Ranging from basic beach bungalows to exclusive five star resorts, Koh Samui has accommodation to suit every holiday maker.

Small, family run resorts can still be found across Samui, where the rooms are simple and clean and guests enjoy the laid back family atmosphere,  along with tasty Thai food for reasonable prices. Maenam has many of these backpacker and family orientated bungalow operations, although many are now being renovated to meet the increasing demand for more comfort and style, and the prices reflect this.  These small resorts are more likely to have a shared swimming pool and air-conditioned rooms.

For those with a larger budget there is also plenty of choice on Samui, with some of the world's most famous hotel chains having opened in the last few years, and more are being constructed. These five star beach resorts combine the finest in five star service, lavish interiors and beautifully landscaped gardens with manicured beachfronts staffed by attentive waiters ready to serve cocktails or a cool scented towel.  They usually feature at least two restaurants, with pool and beach side dining options. Spas, tennis courts, shops and concierge services are all available on site,  ensuring guests can relax and enjoy their exclusive vacations.

Chaweng and Lamai are home to the largest number of beach resorts,  and whole towns have built up around the thriving tourism from the endless white sand beaches and calm turquoise ocean. Miles and miles of stalls and shops sell tourist gifts and clothes, and night clubs, bars and restaurants compete for space in the bustling streets.  Lamai is a smaller version of Chaweng, with a deep swimming beach and a small town ideal for shopping and taking in the sites.  Boutique accommodation like Zara Beach Resort offer peaceful surroundings within easy access of the main amenities.

The traditional Thai town of Nathon has less beach resorts than other parts of the island with more town style hotels and guesthouses. As you travel to the west from Nathon, you notice the number of signs in english diminish as you enter a more peaceful, rural version of Thailand, with a small selection of international hotels and resorts who thrive on the peace and tranquility of the setting. 

Good roads and a fast improving infrastructure continue to put Samui on the map as a world class holiday destination, and whichever beach resort guests decide to stay at they can be sure they will be met with warmth and hospitality.
